Default My Thoughts on the WWE in 2007

Okay, can't believe how quick 2007 has gone, we have seen so many injuries in the WWE (Including Cena ), and several WHC changes. Plus the major push of some up and coming stars like MVP and Kennedy..

Royal Rumble
This was a good way to start the year, I thought the Hardy vs MNM match was good, but not as good as the 4 way ladder match from Armageddon. Last man Standing between Cena and Umaga was, surprisingly not that bad, as was Kennedy vs Batista.
Best Match-The Royal Rumble! Finally the Undertaker wins one. His legendary career deserved this and it was good to see it happen.
PPV rating- 8/10

No Way Out
NWO has never been the best PPV, part of the 'Road to Wrestlemania'. TO be honest it was a bit poor, with Finlay and Hornswoggle vs Boogeyman and Little Boogeyman a joke. The main event, HBK and Cena vs Undertaker & Batista saved the show.
Best match-The tag match main event. A preview of Wrestlemania, built up the rivalry when Batista turned on Undertaker. I thought it could have been a heel turn for Batista, but unfortunuetly no..
PPV rating- 6/10

Wrestlemania
For the biggest wrestling event of the year, I thought it was a let down. Khali vs Kane and Melina vs Ashley are not Wrestlemania matches. Jeff Hardy stole the show with that leg drop through the ladder, and MITB was the best ever, and I was pleased that Kennedy won. I was disappointed that HBK didn't get another title run that he deserves. It was obvious that the Undertaker was going to win, and it was an impressive match. I didn't really care about the battle of the billionaires, as it was so obvious that Trump and Lashley would win.
Best Match-MITB & Undertaker vs Batista
PPV Rating- 8/10

Backlash
Just 2 or 3 weeks after Wrestlemania, the first ever tri-branded Backlash. Not too bad IMO, Th last man standing and fatal four way matches were clear highlights. Backlash also saw the continuation of the Mcmahon- Lashley feud, where Vince (For some reason) gave himself the ECW title.
Best Match-Last man standing: Undertaker vs Batista
PPV Rating- 7/10

Judgement Day
This is where it started to go wrong. Khali as number 1 contender is a big no, and they surely only did it to increase Cena's falling popularity. Undertaker had lost the title at this point, and WWE made a good decision to give it to Edge. Edge vs Batista was quickly organised, so they did well in that respect, pushig Edge as a heel and a coward champion. There was also a re-match of Lashley vs Mcmahon, Mcmahon & Umaga. Where Lashley pinnd Shane, but Vince kept the title. The less said about JD the better...
Best Match-ummm.....Edge vs Batista I suppose..
PPV Rating- 4/10

One Night Stand
Yup that's right, no longer ECW ONS, but WWE ONS (Oh dear!). I will admit it was good to see some different match types, but Khal vs Cena as the main event- AGAIN! RVD's final match was a good stretcher match and Edge vs Batista in a steel cage was also good. Plus, a lumberjack mach is not Extreme Rules! So why did they put us through the torture of Mark Henry vs Kane. Lashley ended his feud wit Vince by winning back the ECW title, which I think was shit, why not put it on someone else??
Best Match-Edge vs Batista
PPV Rating- 6.5/10

Vengeance
This was a few weeks after Vince was pronounced 'dead', and billed as 'the night of champions!' There is no other way to descibe this PPV than 'piss-poor'. Dull match after dull match. I was looking forward to seeing Benoit win the ECW title, but he decided to turn ito murderous scum and ruined that, but, it did lead to Morrissons good push. Edge vs Batista eneded with first a DQ, and second a count out, I was bored of seeing Batista challenging all the time anyway...
Best Match-WWE championship open
PPV Rating- 3.5/10

GAB
The crusierweight title was turned into a joke, with Hornswoggle winning it, WWE seriously undervalue that title. Khali was the champion(!), and defended in a triple threat, woul have been nice to see Kane win, but they had given the belt to Khali just a couple of days before. Two of my most hted wrestlers, Lashley vs Cena headlined the show, and it was dire.
Best Match-Khali vs Kane vs Batista
PPV Rating- 5/10

Summerslam
The return of HHH and Mysterio both excited me, and both put on strong matches to get over on their returns. No changes in championships, which I was disapointed with, I really hoped Orton would win the WWE title, but old 'super-Cena' defended (Yet again). Batista vs Khali was sooo bad, and Morrisson vs Punk ended wth a quick roll up, which was good for Morrisson, as it further pushed him as the biggest heel on ECW.
Best Match-Orton vs Cena
PPV Rating- 7/10

Unforgiven
The Undertakers long-awaited return against- Mark Henry!! That was a terrible match, but it was good to see Taker back in action, and he had an impressive entrance. Cena vs Orton yet again dissapointed me, With Cena walking away as champion after a DQ, another poor match. Khali lost his title (Thank fuck!) to Batista in a triple threat, which was, surprisingly, thebest match.
Best Match-Khali vs Batista vs Mysterio
PPV Rating- 6.5/10

No Mercy
Again, a quikly organsied PPV, with HHH claimng the title, and then having to defend it twice. Finally Orton claimed the title (), in an impressive last man standing match. The Punjabi Prison, was, predictably, shit. I was disapointed there was no Undertaker, but he is getting old after all
Best Match-Orton vs HHH (Last man standing)
PPV Rating- 7/10

Cyber Sunday
I thought it was good! Shawn Michales return saw Ortons first title defence, but the highlight was clearlyUndertaker vs Batista special referee, yet anoher good match between these two. Mysterio vs Finlay in a stretcher match was a good way to kick off the PPV and the street fight between Umaga and HHH was a very good match IMO.
Best Match-Undertaker vs Batista
PPV Rating- 8/10

Survivor Series
Another strong PPV, WWE were finally getting there act together again. A very impressive wrestling match between Orton and Michaels, taking away sweet chin music created a great technical match. The survivor series match was ot the best, and it was a bit predictable, but still enjoyable enough, despite it being 5 on 4. HIAC was excellent, and Edges return capped of a great show, the best WWE PPV of 2007.
Best Match-Undertaker vs Batista- HIAC
PPV Rating- 9/10

Armageddon
Chris Jerichos return was ruined by JBL, hopefully settng a a feud and JBLs in-ring return. Not the best way to end the year, Mysterio vs MVP, Hardy vs HHH and the trple threat were the highlights. Finlay vs Khali was just terrible. I am glad the WWE gave Edge his title back, and hopefully a good heel turn for the Major Brothers.
Best match-Undertaker vs Batista vs Edge
PPV Rating- 7/10

A good year for....
MVP (A major heel push as US champion)
KENNEDDY!
Batista (Main event in every PPV, two title runs)
Umaga (Recieved a heel push as Mcmahons 'partner', and a brief face turn too)
Jeff Hardy- The new umber 1 contender and IC hampion, twice.
Santino Marella- His first and only title reign as IC champion.

A bad year for.....
Davairi (Poor Davairi)
Shawn Michales (Lost to Cena at Wrestlemania before getting injured, to return and loose to Orton!)
Matt Hardy (Pushed to be next US champion, never happened and he got injured)
Chris Benoit (Well.. durgh....)

Best Storyline/Rivalry
Undertaker vs Batista a clear winner here, good twist at No Way Out, a great match at Wrestlemania, then a good last man standing before a really well choreagraphed finish in a great steel cage match, made even better because:
A) Taker somehow wrestled the match with a serious injury
B) Edge came in and won the World title.
And, On the Undertakers return, another great match at Cyber Sunday, before Hell In a Cell! Again, good to see Edge claim the title at Armageddon and hopefully continue this 3 way rivalry..

Worst Storline
What else than Vince blowing himself up!
Complete waste of time, very few people thought he was dead, everyone thought it was a complete farce, and it didn't do anything to enhance well... anything! He came back and found out Hornswoggle was his son! Anoher story not going anywhere! not a good yar for Vince either I'm afraid. But I'm sure he doesn't mind, made another couple of million this year as usual...

Thanks for posting this PDS.
You know Unforgiven 2007 was the LAST PPV I saw. I quit watching WWE after that. I didn't have the time anymore. I was very busy with my new job and working out in the evening.

But I also think that the WWE product quality declined, so I wasn't really in the mood to watch wrestling.

Hopefully I'll soon get back into wrestling again....

By the way, it was a bad year for Cena too. He got injured didn't he?

OMG what a review thanks for takeing the time for doing it.
I think this year sucked cos i made my return watching it again i gave it up in 2003.
I think as it was my first year back and getting to know people i have never seen like Cena, Batista, John Morrison it was an alrite year.
Things that let it down was the amount of releases this year and Benoit thing

True, but he was champion for the rest of the year, and got the 'superman' treatment from the creative team....

WWE 2007-2009 sucks because of PG and Cena, Vickie.
