Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Killed

Sep 4, 2:24 AM (ET)

BRISBANE, Australia (AP) - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray during a diving expedition, police said. He was 44.

Irwin was filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef in northeastern Queensland state when the accident occurred, Sydney's The Daily Telegraph newspaper reported on its Web site.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp. said Irwin was diving near Low Isles Reef near the resort town of Port Douglas, about 1,260 miles north of the state capital of Brisbane.

He rescued so many animals that would have been killed if he weren't around too... But, he died doing what he loved.

Yup, he would surely be going to heaven! Hope someone like him will care for the animals now also.

I know that his wife does a lot for the big cats. Hopefully she will keep it up, and someone will take over what Steve Irwin himself did for the reptiles that were unlucky enough to live too close to people...
