WWE & Larry King Going Head-To-Head With TNA Impact 3/27

Source: Wrestling Edge

The WWE edition of Larry King Live on CNN has been rescheduled again for Thursday 3/27 at 9 PM, which places it against the first live broadcast of TNA Impact on Spike TV, also starting at 9 PM Eastern. However it should be noted that there is a replay of the WWE edition of Larry King Live that same night at 12.

Vince McMahon, Chris Jericho, Big Show, Floyd Mayweather Jr., HHH and John Cena are all scheduled to appear on the show.

The show has been rescheduled multiple times now so while this looks like it will be the final airdate there’s always the chance of another change.

BREAKING Exclusive News: Konnan Files Lawsuit Against TNA
03/20/2008 by Chris Cash

Source: wrestlezone.com

I just got off the phone with Konnan and he told me to make the following public:

The lawsuit papers are now officially in the hands of TNA's office regarding racism toward Konnan. In addition to the main issue of him being held back due to racism and discrimination, Konnan also has other topics included in the lawsuit as well.

Promises that were made to Konnan regarding his hip replacement are also a key subject addressed in the lawsuit. The fact that they said they would help him pay for the surgery and didn't, in addition to them not helping Ron Killings with his surgery, yet helped pay for Scott Steiners' recent operation, is also more leverage Konnan plans to bring up.

Several names are mentioned including Jeff Jarrett, Dutch Mantel, Vince Russo, Terry Taylor, and others. WCW's old racial lawsuit has been mentioned as well to support Konnan's argument against Vince Russo and others. Drug usage within the "higher ups" in TNA are also mentioned.

TNA now has thirty days to respond to the suit. Konnan stated that they can settle out of court or of course, go to court in which case he says things will definitely get "messy".

WrestleZone.com will have much more on this in the coming weeks. In addition, we are planning on having a live 5150 with Konnan to discuss the issue further with the man behind the driver seat. We hope to get word from those involved on TNA's side of things, but they may be a little less "open", so don't expect it. But we will definitely do our best.

Matt Hardy just posted the following at his MySpace page.

Seeing Jeff’s Tragedy Through My Eyes

I was having a pretty standard "gotta fly out early and go to work tomorrow" Friday night. I was washing and packing clothes, booking my rental car, and writing bills to put in the mail on my way to the airport in the morning. Around midnight on Saturday, March 15th, I let my beloved pet dog Lucas outside to use the bathroom. As I stepped outside, I smelled smoke. I walked around to my garage area and could see huge flames burning through the woods. The large flames appeared to be very close to Jeff’s place, about a third of a mile away from my house. My first initial thought was that Jeff was burning either trash or a brush-pile. I then questioned my thought, considering how big the size of the flames looked. For a second, I thought it might be the huge ramp on Jeff’s motocross track or his old recording studio. I quickly jumped in my car, and drove down the back road that connects our two properties.

As I pulled around the lake that bordered Jeff’s home, I witnessed a horrific mental image that will always be etched in my mind. I could see over Jeff’s recording studio that and my brother’s home was engulfed in flames. I violently stopped my car, jumped out, and ran towards Jeff’s burning home yelling for my brother at the top of my lungs. My initial fear was that Jeff and Beth were burning to death inside their house. And I was the only person on the scene-I was frantic. I ran onto the front porch, kicked at the flaming front door, yelling for Jeff and Beth. I could only stay there for a second-the temperature of the heat was unbearable, and I couldn’t breath due to the smoke and lack of oxygen. The entire structure was covered in flames. I ran to the other side of Jeff’s place and saw that his car was gone. I internally prayed that Jeff, Beth, and Jack weren’t in there. I didn’t have my cell phone on me because I had left my house in such a panic. I jumped in my car and raced back home to get my phone. About this same time I got into my car, I could hear sirens-signifying that the fire trucks were on their way.

I got home and called Jeff. It went straight to voicemail, my heart dropped. I called Beth and she picked up. I hysterically asked if Jeff was there and he was. Jeff and Beth had been out to eat and he was currently getting the Hardy Boyz tattoo on the back of his neck filled in at Shannon’s shop. I frantically explained what was happening and that he had to get there now. The first thing Jeff said was this-"Matt, can you kick down the door and get Jack? Please get Jack Matt!" It was heartbreaking. I told Jeff that it was too late, everything was gone. The fire had destroyed everything.

I was already back on the way to Jeff’s burning home as I was getting off the phone with him. By the time I returned to the scene, the fire department was there, and they were fighting the fire. There were fire trucks and police and emergency vehicles everywhere-it looked like a scene out of a movie. When Jeff and Beth finally got there, the shock of reality truly set in on them. I have never felt so bad and helpless and powerless for two people before. It took the fire fighters until almost 4 a.m. to put out the flames. With the exception of the clothes on their bodies, everything that Jeff and Beth owned had been destroyed. But the most tragic lost to them was their beloved dog Jack. Jeff and Beth were crushed. If you’ve ever been extremely close to a pet, you know how painful it is to lose them. It’s like the pet becomes your child.

About 5 a.m., Jeff and Beth came to my house-which is now their house for the time being. Neither one of them could even think about sleeping, and they were both still in shock. I made sure that they knew where everything was in my house and how it worked-so they could function independently in my place. I spent some time talking to them, and then finished packing my stuff. I headed to the airport to go to Louisiana about 8 a.m. without any sleep. This was definitely one of the worst days of my life.

Five days later, it’s still surreal. It’s still so hard to believe that this has actually happened. I thank God that Jeff and Beth weren’t inside the house asleep. As of right now, it seems the fire was started by electrical wires that had been unknowingly damaged underneath Jeff’s place. There’s so much misinformation out there, I wanted everyone to hear and understand the truth behind this tragedy.

As I type this, I hear Jeff upstairs coughing due to being sick. I have never seen my brother as stressed out as he is right now. Jeff is sick because his body is so run down from not sleeping and being stressed out. He needs all of our support now more than ever. Jeff has done so many good things for so many people across the world-now is the time I hope everyone remembers that.

The support and help that has been offered courtesy of family, friends, and fans has been amazing. Thank you. Calling, texting, or sending a message to support another human being that has just went through a personal tragedy means alot. It tells so much about a person’s character. In addition, not contacting or showing support also is very telling of a person’s character.

I’ve received several thousands of request from people wishing to help Jeff and Beth during their crisis. Speaking for them, we are very thankful for all of you. If you want to help, here’s what I suggest. If you have a good picture of Jeff and Beth together, frame it and send it to me. If you have any extras of Jeff’s old wrestling memorabilia-pictures, action figures, magazines, etc.-send those to me. If you see some clothing that you think would look good on Jeff or Beth, send that to me. Any item that you can think of that are similar to these things-that’s what will be the hardest for them to replace. They’re looking into building a new house now, but all of you could contribute the things that truly build a house into a "home." Anything they would need to complete a new "home"-that’s what Jeff and Beth need now. If you have something to send, send it to...

That’s all for now. But I will keep you updated on things. Feel free to pass this info on to friends, websites, and anywhere else you choose. To all of you that have shown so much love and support, I eternally thank you. Be well my friends, and take care of each other..

UPDATE ON FAN LAWSUIT AGAINST WWE AND THE SANDMAN CLAIMING FAN ASSAULT DURING FORMER ECW CHAMP'S GRAND ENTRANCE

Credit to PWInsider.com

An update on the lawsuit filed against World Wrestling Entertainment and The Sandman by a Karlene Boutwell, who alleges the former WWE star committed assault and battery on her during The 8/8/06 ECW on Sci Fi taping in Nashville, TN. Both sides are currently finalizing the discovery period and need to file all written discovery by 3/24 with the United States District Court in Nashville, TN.

Boutwell alleges in her lawsuit, in which she is seeking $100,000 in damages that the Sandman, "while bleeding from a self-imposed wound to his head, grabbed her, picked her up, and threw her, not only injuring her back and aggravating pre-existing injuries, but also exposing her to blood and humiliating her."

In a Case Management order issued by the presiding judge last July, WWE noted that that they deny all claims and have provided footage of Sandman's entrance that night to Boutwell in an attempt to get her to drop the lawsuit.

Sandman did indeed make his traditional entrance through the crowd on that show, which was broadcast live on the Sci Fi Network, to rescue a beaten Tommy Dreamer from Paul Heyman and his minions. The actual Sandman entrance from that event is still online on ECW.com at this link, so you can judge for yourself as to whether Sandman comes into physical contact with any woman, much less picks one up and commits assault and battery.

WWE is also claiming that they would not be liable for any "attack" since Sandman was an independent contractor for the company, not an employee, at the time of the incident

Boutwell filed the lawsuit in April 2007. The case is set to go to trial on 11/4.

WNWN Column of the week written by Clair

Lesnar’s Long Way Round: from WWE to UFC

Written by Clair
On March the fourteenth 2004, Brock Lesnar made his final appearance for WWE when at Wrestlemania XX, he faced off against Bill Goldberg in Madison Square Garden, the WWE had been busy hyping the match between the two men in the build up for Wrestlemania, yet for all the hype and anticipation of the fans, the match was a complete fiasco, while most fans had known for a while that this was to be Goldberg’s final WWE appearance, many were shocked that in the week leading up to this match rumours began to surface that it was also to be Lesnars, this lead to both men getting booed by the fans in attendance as it became obvious neither man was giving the match their best effort, as both were leaving after that match, in fact for many fans the best part of this match was when Stone Cold Steve Austin, who had been the Special Guest Referee for the match, administered a stone cold stunner to both men.

After just three years with the WWE, Lesnar had decided that he was worn out from the gruelling WWE travel schedule and that he wanted to pursue his dream of playing in the National Football League instead. Many insiders found it strange that this was all decided about the same time WWE had asked Lesnar to give up his main event position and allow someone else to have a run with the WWE championship, with a further four years remaining on his contract, Lesnar wanted out and when WWE offered him his contract providing he signed a no compete clause which would not allow him to work for any other wrestling or MMA company until July of 2010, Lesnar could return to the ring providing it was at an event organised by the WWE, Lesnar happily signed, then began to burn his WWE bridges slamming his experience with the WWE to the media, as at that point he had absolutely no intention of ever returning to the ring and vowed he was done with wrestling for good.

Lesnar signed a one year rookie contract on the eve of training camp with the Minnesota Vikings, but despite developing faster than expected and impressing his team mates with hard work, Lesnar only played a few off season games where he caused controversy by getting into fights and got considerable heat from the Kansas City Chiefs when he sacked their quarterback Damon Huard, breaking one of the unwritten rules of professional football, but despite any promise he had shown, his lack of football experience and a groin injury he sustained in a motorcycle accident, were to much to over come in the month of training, and Lesnar was released from his contract. Despite his short time with them, Minnesota Vikings lapped up the amount of publicity Lesnar created, and sold thousands of jerseys with the number 69 and Lesnar’s name on, as many cynics have pointed out it did more for them than it ever did for Lesnar.

So six months after walking out on an estimated $45 Million dollar contract over seven years; to follow his dream, Lesnar was left high and dry, as his professional football options dried up, while some say Lesnar turned down the option, others say he was denied the opportunity to join the ranks of NFL Europe in a bid to improve his game and get his much needed experience, and the tune he was singing about wrestling was very different, contacting WWE about the possibility of a return, nobody was shocked when they declined.

Unable to return to WWE and not allowed to fight anywhere else left one option for Lesnar, he had to take on the WWE in court in a bid to get out of the no compete clause he had originally agreed to, so filing a restraint of trade lawsuit against WWE Lesnar went down the only option left to him, WWE immediately counter sued demanding damages because Lesnar had appeared at a New Japan Pro Wrestling Event, which broke the terms of his no compete clause. Almost a year later in July 2005 Lesnar and WWE opened negotiations to renew their ‘friendship’ but by the second of August the relationship had once again soured and the negotiations were over and WWE reported that Lesnar had withdrawn from any further involvement with the company, the following month the lawsuit entered into settlement talks and again broke down.

In the meantime on the thirteenth of September 2005 it was announced by Masahiro Chono that Lesnar would be going to NJPW to take part in their upcoming PPV at the Tokyo Dome on the eighth of October, during that show Lesnar won the IWGP title by defeating Kazuyuki Fujita and Masahiro Chono in a three way match, after he used his signature move the ‘F5’ which had been renamed the Verdict, this appearance was in direct contradiction of his no compete clause with the WWE, due to this WWE then filed for a temporary restraining to stop Lesnar from continuing to wrestle in New Japan. Despite this Lesnar continued to appear and on the tenth of January Lesnar defeated Manabu Nakanishi in order to retain his IWGP title, the following night he also defeated Yuji Nagata to retain the title.

On the thirtieth of December WWE withdrew its attempt to stop Lesnar from appearing at the next NJPW PPV at the Tokyo dome.

On the fourteenth of January 2006 Judge Christopher Droney stated that unless WWE came up with a valid reason between then and the twenty fifth of January he was going to rule in favour of Lesnar, this would have enabled Lesnar to work anywhere he wanted to straight away, but WWE were issued with a deadline postponement. Then on the twenty fourth of April, WWE.com announced that they had come to a mutual agreement and on the twelfth of June a Judge dismissed Lesnar's Lawsuit against the WWE and it was all over. There is some speculation that WWE released Lesnar from the no compete clause providing he did not go to TNA. Lesnar was now free to work.

Three days on the twenty eighth of April, Lesnar entered the ring after the final match of K1’s Hero’s Las Vegas and announced his intention to enter the word of Mixed Martial Arts, after training with the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, under the guidance of Greg nelson and the University of Minnesota’s head wrestling coach Marty Morgan,

Despite this Lesnar was still the IWGP champion and made one more appearance for NJPW on the third of May, against Giant Bernard (A-Train) to retain his title, this was the first all American title fight for NJPW since Vader and Stan Hansen in 1990.

Then on the fifteenth of July 2006 NJPW announced that due to visa issues Lesnar would be unable to return to defend his title, others cite that Lesnar had a disagreement with NJPW management and quit, either way Lesnar still physically held the title belt despite Hiroshi Tanahashi winning the subsequent tournament to be named the new IWGP Champion, the man Lesnar had been scheduled to face.

Lesnar then announced on the twelfth of August in Las Vegas he had signed a deal that would see him join the ranks of K1, his first ever MMA fight was scheduled for the second of June 2007, against Mon Soo Kim, it was the last bout on the card and pitted Lesnar against the South Korean Kim, who had won a silver medal in Judo at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Kim had emerged from his two previous Hero’s bouts victorious, but it didn’t take long for the athleticism of Lesnar to make an impact, Lesnar charged Kim with a takedown, which may have appeared sloppy to many but it was effective, and took Kim to the matt, Lesnar now had the Half mount and out muscled Kim’s attempts to get out from under him by levelling him with punches. Kim wrapped his arms around Lesnars waist and attempted to hold on to Lesnar in a bid stop the barrage, but unfortunately for Kim, Lesnar simply pried his head away from his chest and hit him with a right then a left, this left only one option for Kim to escape the pain, and at one minute nine seconds, of the first round, Kim tapped out giving Lesnar his first official MMA victory.

Less than a month later on the twenty sixth of June, Lesnar put his disputed IWPG title on the line against Kurt Angle for a champion versus champion match, Angle would win the bout with the use of an ankle lock, to win the IWGP Third Belt Championship (which IGF and TNA recognize as the IWGP World Title, and NWA recognizes as the NWA Japan Championship.) Afterwards Angle would then go on and challenge Lesnar to an MMA fight, as of yet that fight has yet to occur.

Despite having had only one professional MMA fight Lesnar decided to leave K1 and on the twentieth of October 2007, during UFC 77 just before the main event UFC broke the news that Brock Lesnar would be joining the UFC and making his debut at UFC 81 against former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, the war of words began, with Lesnar confident of a win over Mir. Mir was confident he would defeat the former WWE champion.

As he made his way to the Octagon the 6ft 3in, 265 pound figure of Lesnar remains undeterred, despite receiving a less than warm welcome from the gathered MMA fans, weeks of hype and anticipation were about to end as he made his UFC debut.

Quickly taking Mir down to the matt, Lesnar launched a barrage of fast heavy blows inside Mir’s half guard, unfortunately for Lesnar one of these blows hit the back of Mir’s head, earning Lesnar a penalty point for illegal contact, despite the fact he was going for a legal blow.

Once the warning had been issued and the action resumed Mir was quickly down once again, with the massive Lesnar raining dangerous hammer fists down, in what many see as a rookie mistake, Lesnar either ignored or showed little regard for the impressive and dangerous submission skills at Mir’s disposal and leaving his right leg exposed, Mir, from a position of being on the matt lying on his back with Lesnar standing over him, rolled into a perfect jiu-jitsu kneebar, which forced Lesnar to tap just 90 seconds into his first UFC match, giving Mir what many see as his biggest win since he defeated Sylvia for the UFC Heavyweight title in 2004.

Lesnar’s game plans had appeared to be a simple one, press Mir as hard as possible and get the match over as quickly as possible, once it had became clear this was not going to happen, some feel that Lesnar was left with no plan B and that was when Mir was able to score the victory.

So what now does the world of MMA hold in store for Lesnar? Well he has the honor of facing the returning UFC Hall of Fame member Mark Coleman later this year.
