Kofi Kingston Debuts On WWE TV
Last night on ECW, WWE aired the first "coming soon" promo clip for the newest ECW superstar, Kofi Kingston. His real name is Kofi Sarkodie-Mensah and he is a young, physically fit man. He's being billed as "the first Jamaican WWE Superstar".
The promo video showed Kingston on the beach in Jamaica. He was shown overhearing an argument on the beach where a very muscular guy was bullying and kicking sand onto and a "normal" guy. Kofi walked over and the next thing you know, the bully is covered upto his neck in sand. Twice during the video, Kingston used the tagline "There's trouble in paridise".
Kofi Kingston made his pro debut in 2005. Since 2006 he has trained in WWE's developmental territories Deep South Westling and Ohio Valley Wrestling. He teamed with WWE newcomer Harry "DH" Smith in OVW.

Nash/Joe Heat
-- According to Dave Meltzer there could be some real tension backstage between Kevin Nash and Samoa Joe. At this point it is not a good idea to dismiss it all as a work. Work shoot promos were done in WCW all the time and with Vince Russo in TNA this could be the running angle to try and jar the public into caring.

- Management told Samoa Joe to go the ring last night to cut a promo on Scott Hall to take the heat off of the company for a major star no-showing a pay-per-view. They wanted him to put over the guys on the roster and then to introduce Eric Young as his replacement partner. Joe's promo went about five minutes longer than originally planned not to mention that it incorporated a lot more content, especially aimed at Kevin Nash, than was planned.
- During the promo, Joe leaned over the top rope and asked someone off camera if they were mad at him. Apparently, he looked over at TNA President Dixie Carter -- who was sitting in the audience -- shrugged and said, "Go ahead and fire me, I don't care." As you can imagine, Carter was legitimately upset with him "going into business for himself" and taking so long with his promo. Furthermore, Kevin Nash was legitimately upset that Joe turned Scott Hall's no-show into a rant against him for some reason.
- Nash returned to the back right away after the match had concluded. He was waiting for Joe to show up so he could confront him about his comments. When Joe got backstage, Nash confronted him and a heated verbal exchange with some shoving ensued between the two. Joe soon backed down to prevent the situation from escalating.
- Joe gave an emotional apology at today's all-talent meeting as he felt he went overboard with his promo from the night before. He said he hoped his apology would be accepted.

Airplane Carrying WWE Talent In Scare
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that while details are still sketchy, WWE's SmackDown/ECW crew had a huge scare a few hours ago in Europe.
Apparently after last night's show in Frankfurt, Germany, the WWE superstars were on a Lufthansa flight that was going to Zurich, Switzerland (the location of tonight's show). As the aircraft was about to land, another airplane got in the way of landing. At the last minute the pilot of aircraft carrying WWE talent was able to get the airplane back in the air.
The aircraft later landed safely. The entire WWE crew was said to be very shaken up and were even described as being "white as ghosts" several hours after the scare.
"The Shockmaster" Had He Not Fallen During His Debut
Fred Ottman Reveals The Original Plan For "The Shockmaster" Had He Not Fallen During His Debut
Sent In By ( WorldWrestlingInsanity.com)
He tooted along as Tugboat. He caused disaster alongside Earthquake. He fell into history as The Shockmaster. Now, in a rare shoot interview, Fred Ottman joins ClubWWI.com to discuss it all.
Although Fred talks about every aspect of his career in his 40 minute ClubWWI uncut shoot interview, one subject he discusses is the one that most people still bring up - The Shockmaster. Set to debut as a massive foil for Big Van Vader, Fred was told his introduction would include breaking through the wall of "The Flair For The Gold" set during a WCW show. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out that way as Ottman tripped, fell, and lost his mask as soon as the wall came down.
He tried to recover but it was impossible. WCW changed his gimmick and he soon became "Uncle Fred." Ottman told James Guttman the full story of that infamous moment in his ClubWWI.com interview. He explained the role his sparkly mask played in all of it as well as the reaction from people backstage after the segment ended. JG then asked what the original direction for the Shockmaster was prior to the fall. Fred answered:
"They were going to bring me in but it was going to be more of a comic book type character. You know what I'm saying? The costume and stuff like that was - around the same kind as when they did the Glacier gimmick. If you look back at when they stared doing the Glacier promos and that stuff. You know, it was really truly supposed to be like, I had a Mexican mask I would have worn. Just the whole outfit was pretty wild. I wore it maybe five or six times, seven times, something like that, you know. And then - whoosh - they morphed me into a Howdy Doody Uncle Fred character."
Fred Ottman's rare ClubWWI.com shoot interview went on for 40 minutes and included a ton of talk including his debut in Texas, Dusty Rhodes, choosing WWF over WCW, Bruiser Brody, personal memories of "Earthquake" John Tenta, becoming Typhoon, Hulk Hogan friendship bracelets, why Typhoon didn't feud with Hogan, his action figures, his new career, Bruiser Brody, and much more.
Don't forget, you can hear from over 90 stars you can hear from as soon as you sign up for ClubWWI.com. Other guests include Eric Bischoff, Jerry Lawler, Chris Masters, Vince Russo, John Heidenreich, Sid Vicious, Tammy "Sunny" Sytch, Nick "U-Gene" Dinsmore, Christian Cage, Samoa Joe, Kevin Nash, Diamond Dallas Page, Shawn Daivari, La Resistance, The Steiner Brothers, AJ Styles, Demolition, Paul Bearer, Bobby Heenan, Ted DiBiase, Road Warrior Animal, The Iron Sheik, Rhino, Dustin Rhodes, Earl Hebner, Charlie Haas, Christy Hemme, Christopher Daniels, and many more. Plus audio shows from D-Lo Brown, Bull Buchanan, Kevin Kelly, Orlando Jordan, Ivory, and Dr. Tom Prichard
Wrestling Quotes
"He looks like something that fell out of a deck of cards!" -- Bobby Heenan on Oliver Humperdink
"Dusty Rhodes wouldn't win a body building contest for best abs, MacMahon, he'd win for MOST abs."-- Jesse Ventura
"The Bushwhackers are living proof that the Three Stooges had children" -- Gorilla Monsoon
"Jimmy Snuka stood up, 25 feet in the air, drove his knee through my ribs, but did I allow them to carry me out on a stretcher? NO! I got right up and walked out!" -- Don Muraco after Backlund announced he wouldn't wrestle the Iron Sheik due to injuries.
